Built on the Craft of the Housewright
A housewright was the tradesman who turned raw timber into a sound, lasting home. The Housewright Shop carries that idea into every order. From our yard and storefront at 890 S Fort Valley Rd in Fort Valley, Virginia, we supply the materials that serious building and woodworking projects depend on.
Our customers include furniture makers, cabinet shops, renovation contractors, knife makers and dedicated home workshops. They come to us for one reason: material that arrives ready to work, with specifications they can trust.
What We Supply
• Lumber Supply – Black walnut, hard maple and black cherry, surfaced on all four sides (S4S) in 1/4” and 3/4” thicknesses and project-ready lengths.
• Veneering Supplies – Peel-and-stick (PSA) sheets, two-ply wood-backed sheets and raw domestic veneer packs for panels, refacing and marquetry.
• Knife Scales – Bookmatched handle blanks in zebrawood, koa, bocote, pau ferro and figured claro walnut.
• Hardware – Undermount drawer slides, soft-close cabinet hinges, bed rail fasteners, box spring brackets and assembly tools.
How We Work
• Accurate specifications. Every listing states species, dimensions, thickness and package contents, so you can plan cuts and quantities before you order.
• Milled stock. Our lumber is surfaced to true dimensions, saving you planer time and reducing waste on thin stock.
• Natural material, honestly described. Wood grain and color vary from piece to piece. We say so up front rather than promising an exact match.
• Straightforward service. Real people answer our phone and inbox during business hours, and our policies are written in plain language.
